Lynch (Peter) is born in Newton.

Peter Lynch becomes a caddy at Brae Burn Country Club, where he meets Ned Johnson, CEO of Fidelity Investments, who invites him to become an intern at the company. After he graduates from Boston College and the Wharton School and serves in the military, Lynch returns to Fidelity, becomes director of research and then head the Magellan Fund (1977-1990). With his wife Carolyn, he forms the Lynch Family Foundation, which supports humanitarian and educational causes.
