Menino (Tom) is born in Boston.

The son of Carl and Susan Menino, Tom Menino graduates from Thomas Aquinas High School, Chamberlayne Junior College, and the University of Massachusetts Boston, and works initially as an insurance salesman. He marries Angela Faletra in 1966, serves as a district member of the Boston City Council (1984-93), acting mayor (1993) and as mayor of Boston (1994-2013), the longest tenure of any mayor in Boston history. Upon leaving office,, he teaches at Boston University. Menino dies in Boston on October 30, 2014, and, after a funeral procession through most of the city, is buried at Fairview Cemetery on November 3, 2014.*
