Logan Airport expansion begins.

After reassuming control of the airport, the state begins landmaking activities that include the taking of Governors Island in 1942, Apple and Bird Islands in 1948, and Wood Island Park in 1954. The airport is subsequently expanded to its current size of 1,800 acres.
