Enchanted Village is first displayed at Jordan Marsh.

[1940s] The store discontinues it in 1972, revives it in 1990, then, after becoming Macy’s, discontinues it in 1998. The city takes over the display in 1998, first in a temporary structure on City Hall Plaza, then at the Hynes Convention Center beginning in 2003. Due to wear and tear on the machinery, the display is reduced to a single room in the City Hall lobby in 2006. The 59 handmade electro-mechanical figures, none over 4 feet 8 inches high, and background are sold to Jordan’s Furniture, refurbished, and put on display at their Avon store beginning on November 22, 2009.
