(Dec.) [1939] Built by the Boston Housing Authority, it is located at 136 Lenox Street. The second federally subsidized public housing development in Boston, it is the first public housing development intended for African-Americans in Boston. More than 300 families were dislocated to make way for its construction. Residents subsequently include mural artists Rob “ProBlak” Gibbs and Damon Butler. The development is renovated and converted to Section 8 apartments in 2018.
