Angier III (Roswell) is born in New Haven, Connecticut.

The son of Roswell and Viola (Buell) Angier, Roswell Angier graduates from Harvard University, takes up photography in graduate school at the University of California Berkeley, and arrives in Boston, where he teaches at a number of institutions, including Tufts University and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts. Angier becomes best known as an urban photographer. Vince Aletti writes of his work, “There’s no sense of hit-and-run exploitation . . .just a mixture of tenderness, concern, and righteous anger.” Angier dies May 23, 2023, in Amherst.
