Curtis (Chet) is born in Amsterdam, New York.

Born Chester Kukiewicz, he begins work at a local radio station at 15, changes his name to Chet Curtis, then works at television stations in Washington, D.C. and New York. He comes to Boston in 1968 to work first as a reporter then as news anchor at WCVB. He marries co-worker Natalie Jacobson in 1972, and they become co-anchors of the evening news in 1982.* Curtis moves to New England Cable News in 2001. He dies on January 22, 2014.
