King (Martin Luther Jr.) School is built.

Architect: Funk & Wilcox. Originally the Patrick Campbell School and named for the Boston Latin School headmaster and school superintendent, it is located at 77 Lawrence Avenue. The school is renamed for the civil rights leader and Nobel Peace Prize winner, who visited on April 21, 1965, in 1968. The Campbell name is subsequently transferred to the Education Resource Center on Dorchester Avenue.
