Old Mr. Boston distillery is built.

Operated by Irwin “Red” Benjamin and Hyman Berkowitz, it is located at 1010 Massachusetts Avenue. The company becomes known for its cordials and collectable bottles, and the Old Mr. Boston Official Bartender’s and Party Guide, first published in 1935. The company drops the “Old” from the title in 1980, moves to Owensboro, Kentucky in 1981, and is purchased by Sazerac in 2009.
