Jones (Clarence “Jeep”) Jr. is born in Boston.

The son of Clarence and Elizabeth (Middleton) Jones, Jeep Jones grows up on Oakburn Avenue, graduates from Winston Salem State College, then serves in the U.S. Army and Korea. Returning to Boston, he becomes a teacher, youth worker, and probation officer. Jones serves as director of Boston Youth Activities in 1958, Commission and the office of Human Rights, and is named deputy mayor in 1976.* A parishioner of the Twelfth Baptist Church, he marries Wanda Hale in 1983. Jones serves on the board of the Boston Redevelopment Authority (1981-2013), the last 24 years as chairman. He dies in Roxbury on February 1, 2020.
