Plath (Sylvia) is born in Boston.

The daughter of Otto and Aurelia (Schober) Plath, Sylvia Plath lives initially at 24 Prince Street, then moves to Winthrop and Wellesley. She graduates from Smith College, studies in England, and marries Ted Hughes in 1956, moves with him to Boston briefly in 1958,* then returns to England. She dies in London on February 11, 1963. Poet and critic Peter Davison later writes, “Little of Jamaica Plain informs her poetry or prose.”
