Boston Shorty is born in Cambridge.

Born Larry Johnso, he leaves high school to become a professional pool player, and subsequently gets his nickname for his height (5 feet 1 inch) and strong Boston accent. Known for his porkpie hat and the cigars he smokes, he wins a number of tournaments, national and world championships. Shorty dies in Somerville on December 10, 2000.
