Napoleon Club opens.

It is located at 52 Piedmont Street. Originally a private club with a number of gay members, it becomes Boston’s most popular gay nightclub under new ownership by 1952. Described as “a dignified piano bar,” it often allows patrons to perform, as well as professionals that include Judy Garland, Elton John. and Liberace. The club closes in June 1998 and the building is subsequently converted to residential use.
