White (Kevin H.) is born in Jamaica Plain.

The son of Joseph and Patricia (Hagan) White (his grandfather, father, and father-in-law had all been City Council presidents), Kevin White attends the Portable School, graduates from Williams College, and Boston College Law School, and becomes an assistant Suffolk County district attorney. White marries Kathryn Galvin in 1956, and moved to 158 Mount Vernon Street. He serves as Massachusetts secretary of state (1961-67), and mayor of Boston (1968-1983), then teaches at Boston University. White dies at his home on Beacon Hill on January 27, 2012.
