King (Martin Luther Jr.) is born in Atlanta.

The son of Rev. Martin Luther King and Alberta (Williams) King, Martin Luther King Jr. graduates from Morehouse College and Crozer Theological Seminary, and comes to Boston in 1951 to attend graduate school at Boston University, and lives in Apt. 6 at 397 Massachusetts Avenue from 1952 to 1953. He serves as student minister at the Twelfth Baptist Church, meets Coretta Scott in 1952,* and marries her in 1953,* and receives his doctorate in Boston in 1955.* King becomes the nation’s foremost civil rights leader and recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize. and returns to Boston frequently, leading a major demonstration in 1964.* He is assassinated in Memphis, Tennessee, on April 4, 1968,* and is buried in Atlanta, Georgia.
