Sugrue (Frank) is born in Boston.

The son of a locksmith and homemaker, Frank Sugrue grows up in Dorchester, joins the U.S. Army, and produces camp entertainment while stationed in China. Returned to Boston, he graduates from Boston University and Northeastern Law School, and, with Michael Murray, founds the Charles Playhouse in 1958.* Sugrue goes on to become a leading figure in the Boston theater scene. He dies in Dorchester on March 8, 2017, and is buried at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
