Richards (Lucile Stone) is born in Boston.
1926
The daughter of immigrants, Lucile Stone Richards grows up in Dorchester, and graduates from Jeremiah Burke High School. In 1945, she is invited to play in the newly-established All American Girls Professional Baseball League and years later may have been the inspiration for the lead character in the 1992 movie A League of Their Own. Richards subsequently marries, moves to Holbrook, has three children, and becomes a school bus driver and Little League coach. She dies in Buzzards Bay on May 20, 2016.
