Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters Boston chapter is established.

It meets initially in a room at 429 Columbus Avenue above Charlie’s Sandwich Shoppe. Willard Chandler is the first president. The national union, said to be the first union of African-American workers in the U.S., is led by A. Philip Randolph. It does not win a contract with the Pullman Company until 1937.
