Ross (Stephan B.) is born in Lodz, Poland.

(ca.) The youngest of eight children of Josef and Basia Rozental, Steve Ross and an older brother are the only family members to survive confinement in Nazi concentrations camps during World War II. Brought to Boston in approximately 1948, he grows up in the Home for Jewish Orphans, in the Army in Korea, graduates from Goddard College, receives a master’s degree from Boston University, and becomes a counselor for the Boston Youth Activities Commission. A charismatic speaker, he becomes one of the founders of the New England Holocaust Memorial. A film about his life is made in 2017,* and a book published in 2018.* Ross dies in Newton on February 24, 2020.
