Children’s Art Center is established.
1918
[1914] Founded by Elizabeth Ward Perkins and artist Charles Herbert Woodbury, it is located at 34 Rutland Street. The first public arts program designed for children in the U.S., it is operated by the South End House in collaboration with the Museum of Fine Arts. Ralph Adams Cram is the first president. Students include Allan Rohan Crite. The institution becomes part of the United South End Settlements in 1960.
