Schmidt (Milt) is born in Kitchener, Ontario.

Milt Schmidt comes to Boston in 1936 to play for the Boston Bruins. He spends his whole career with the team (1936-1955), during which time he helps the team win two Stanley Cups, misses parts of three seasons due to service in World War II, wins the Hart Trophy as most valuable player in 1951, and is a four-time All-Star. Schmidt serves as Bruins coach (1956-66) and general manager (1967-72). His number 15 is retired by the team in 1980, and he dies on January 4, 2017.
