People’s Baptist Church is established.

The congregation is formed by the merger of St. Paul’s Baptist (originally the First African Baptist Church), the Calvary Baptist Church (which split from Twelfth Baptist in 1912), and the Morningstar Baptist Church. It is considered the seventh-oldest African-American church in the U.S. Aaron Fuller is the first pastor of the merged congregations. Wesley Roberts serves as pastor from 1982 to 2025.
