Harry Houdini once again demonstrates his escape artistry in Boston.
September 26, 1911
Handcuffed and manacled, Houdini allows himself to be stuffed inside what is described as a “giant sea monster” (in reality an embalmed giant turtle) at B.F. Keith’s New Theatre. The shell is then chained shut and a cabinet placed over it. Fifteen minutes later, Houdini somehow emerges on stage, and the cabinet is removed to reveal that the turtle shell has remained chained.
