Old Home Week is celebrated.

(to 8/4) Initiated by Mayor John.F. Fitzgerald, the event’s purpose is to bring former residents back to Boston as a means to boost the city’s economy. Attended by 150,000 people, the festivities include a Founder’s Day, Patriot’s Day, Greater Boston Day, Women’s Day, and a parade.
