Craven (Katherine “Kitty”) is born in Charlestown.

October 6, 1906

Katherine Craven graduates from St. Patrick’s Commercial High School in Watertown, works as a secretary, and marries John Craven, who is subsequently elected a state representative. She moves to 120 Beacon Street, raises 11 children, and becomes the first woman elected at-large to the Boston City Council in 1963,* Known as a salty-tongued critic of city policies, especially those concerning of urban renewal, Craven dies in Newton on July 17, 1984.*
