Shibley (Frederick) is born in Chinatown.

September 2, 1905

The son of Lebanese immigrants, Fred Shibley grows up in a rooming house operated by his parents at 40 Union Park, attends the Quincy School and Boston Trade High School, and becomes an acrobat, banjo player, clown, and tap dancer on the vaudeville circuit. After serving time for robbing a Lowell banker, he returns to Boston and begins publishing an unorthodox neighborhood newspaper in 1938.* He dies in Boston on December 3, 1970.
