Jack Caffrey of Canada (2:29:23) wins the Boston Marathon.

Caffrey becomes the first repeat winner of the marathon. Ronald McDonald, who won in 1898, collapses during the race at Cleveland Circle and it is subsequently alleged that he was handed a chloroform-coated sponge to wipe his face.
