Back Bay Fens is completed.

[1893-BLC] Originally Back Bay Park, it is designed by Frederick Law Olmsted and located along the Fenway and at 100 Park Drive. The first park in the Boston park system, it was acquired by the Parks Department in 1877. Construction began in 1879. The park is subsequently described by Sylvester Baxter as, “primarily an engineering work designed to effect a drainage and sanitary improvement.” It is redesigned by Arthur Shurcliff in the 1930s.
