Boston Transit Commission is established.

Created by the Massachusetts legislature under Chapter 548, it succeeds the state Rapid Transit Commission. Its purpose is to oversee the development and implementation of the privately-run Boston elevated subway system. Three members are appointed by the governor and three by the mayor. The commission subsequently authorizes the actions of the Boston Elevated Railway Company until 1918.
