Mary Mahan is admitted to the Massachusetts Bar Association.

The first woman admitted to the Massachusetts Bar Association, the West Roxbury resident is admitted along with 34 men. Afterwards, one of the organization’s member expresses the hope that her admission will “not interfere with our banquets and prevent smoking.” The group’s headquarters is currently located at 20 West Street.
