Loring (William C.) House is built.

Architect: W.Y. Peters. Built for the attorney and future chief justice of the Supreme Judicial Court and his wife, it is located at 404 Beacon Street (2 Gloucester Street). John Singer Sargent paints Loring’s portrait here in March 1903. The building is converted to apartments and a floor added in 1953. The building is converted to condominiums in 1976.
