Tufts University School of Medicine is established.

October 4, 1893

Originally Tufts College Medical School, it is located at 188 Boylston Street. More than a quarter of the first class are women. The school moves to the corner of Shawmut Avenue and Rutland Street, then to a new building on Huntington Avenue in 1901.* It merges with the Boston Dispensary and the Boston Floating Hospital in 1929,* and assumes its current name in 1954.
