Pope Manufacturing Company (first) is built.
1891
Built by Albert Pope, it is located at 221 Columbus Avenue. The white brick building with terra cotta trim includes four floors of showrooms and top-floor riding academy. The building is destroyed by a fire on March 12, 1896, and replaced by a new building (second) in 1897.*
