New England Conservatory is charged with segregating its student dormitory.

Maud Cuney and another African-American student are asked to move out of the school’s dormitory after the administration receives complaints from some of its white students. Cuney refuses to move and, following protests organized by the Colored National League and Harvard student W.E.B. DuBois follow, The issue receives national attention.
