St. Mary’s Church (second) is dedicated.

December 25, 1888

Architect: Henry Vaughan. Designed in the Jacobethan style, it is located at 14 Cushing Avenue. The congregation was established in 1847. The first Episcopal church in Dorchester, its construction was begun at the corner of Bowdoin Street and Topliffe Street, but the unfinished building was destroyed by a fire in 1888. The eventual church is the only building designed by Vaughan in Boston. It is enlarged by Hartwell & Richardson in 1893. Stained glass windows by Tiffany Studios, Wilbur Burnham, Harry Goodhue, and Charles Connick are added between 1902 and 1911. The building is now also used by the Iglesia Reformada congregation.
