Demar (Clarence) is born in Madeira, Ohio.

Clarence DeMar attends the Boston Farm School on Thompson Island and the University of Vermont, settles in Melrose, becomes a printer in Jamaica Plain, and runs his first Boston Marathon in 1910. He goes on to win the race in 1911,* 1922, 1923, 1924, 1927, 1928, and 1930. and competes in three Olympic games, winning the bronze medal in 1924.* Known as “Mr. DeMarathon,” he runs his last Boston Marathon in 1954. DeMar dies in Boston in 1958.
