Morison (Samuel Eliot) is born in Boston.

The son of John H. and Emily Marshall (Eliot) Morison, Samuel Eliot Morison is born and grows up at 44 Brimmer Street, graduates from Harvard College and receives a doctorate degree from Harvard University. He serves in the U.S. Navy in World War I and World War II, in the U.S. Naval Reserve (1942*-62), and teaches history at Harvard, with a specialty in naval history (1915-1955). The author of more than 50 books and winner of two Pulitzer Prizes, Morison is named the official university historian for Harvard’s 300th anniversary. He dies in May 1976.
