Blaney Memorial Baptist Church (first) is built.

March 16, 1887

Named for Mercy Blaney, who left a $20,000 bequest for its construction, it is designed in the Carpenter Gothic style and located at 60 Richmond Street. The small congregation was established on November 13, 1882 and met initially in Hutchinson’s Hall and the Associates Building. The Richmond Street building is demolished in the 1980s.
