White (Paul Dudley) is born in Roxbury.

June 6, 1886

The son of a family doctor, Paul Dudley White graduates from Harvard College and Harvard Medical School, studied in London, and serves in World War I. He returns to Boston and Joins the staff of Massachusetts General Hospital in 1911 and the faculty at Harvard Medical School in 1921. White introduces the electrocardiogram in Boston in 1914,* and comes to be called the “Father of American Cardiology.” He writes textbooks that become the standard of the time and serves as founder, president, and member of numerous U.S. and international cardiology organizations and promote exercise to prevent heart disease to the American public. White dies in Boston on October 31, 1973.
