Frederick Prince is reelected mayor of Boston.

Prince (D), with 21,112 votes, again defeats Solomon Stebbins, with 21,112 (20,531), and others to be reelected to his third consecutive term as mayor and fourth overall. In his inaugural address, Prince describes it as a time when “municipal luxuries” are becoming “municipal necessaries.”
