Published by the Telephone Dispatch Company, it is the first telephone directory in Boston and consists of a single sheet of paper containing the names of 67 firms in 34 lines of business. No telephone numbers are listed since callers must signal the central office by saying, “Hello, Central,” and then announce the name of the person or business to whom they wish to speak.
