Louisa May Alcott first stays at the Hotel Bellevue.

(Feb.) Alcott returns to the hotel again several times over the next seven years, staying in what she calls her “sky chamber” on the eighth floor in the building’s mansard roof. During these visits, she participates in a literary salon in the first-floor Bellevue CafĂ© that also includes Ralph Waldo Emerson and Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.
