Hotel Brunswick is built.

Architect: Peabody & Stearns. It is located at 520 Boylston Street. The building is enlarged in 1876. Guests include President Rutherford Hayes and Henry James. The hotel is subsequently home to a series of jazz clubs, including the Egyptian Room in the 1930s and 1940s. The hotel closes and the building is torn down in 1957.
