Cuney-Hare (Maud) is born in Galveston, Texas .

The daughter of a politician and a school teacher, Maud Cuney-Hare comes to Boston in 1890 to study at the New England Conservatory of Music and quickly becomes involved in a protest over discrimination in student housing in 1890.* After graduating, she returns to Texas, then returns to Boston after marrying William Hare in 1904. Cuney-Hare lives at 43 Sheridan Street, becomes a teacher, writer, critic, folklorist, and music historian, and leader in the Boston little theater movement. She dies in Boston on February 13, 1936, and is buried in Galveston, Texas.
