Whelton (Daniel A.) is born in the West End.

January 1, 1872

Daniel Whelton is born at 39 Billerica Street, and then moves to 61 Allen Street. He attends evening high school [graduates from St. Mary’s High School-WEM], then drops out to work as a salesman for a publishing company. He serves on the Boston Common Council (1894-1895), married Nellie Caffrey, and as chairman of the Board of Aldermen (1903-07), and acting mayor of Boston (1905). He later serves as deputy sheriff off Suffolk Count. Whelton later moves to Jamaica Plain, then Dorchester. He dies there on November 27, 1953, and  is buried in St. Joseph Cemetery.
