Dorchester High School (second) is built.

Officially the Eldridge Smith School, it is located near the corner of Dorchester Avenue and Centre Street near today’s 1669 Dorchester Avenue. It opens with 220 students. The building is demolished and a new school is built on the site in 1957.*
