Base Ball Ticket candidates are elected to the Board of Aldermen.

The slate of candidates, who support the continued use of Boston Common for sporting events, had distributed a “base ball ballot” that included a red baseball printed at the top. The issue is said to have helped Nathaniel Shurtleff win election as mayor, and he subsequently grants the use of the Common for baseball the next spring.
