Copeland, Robert Morris. Proposal for a Metropolitan Park System.

Boston Daily Advertiser. Copeland proposes building the system of parks connected by boulevards. The Massachusetts legislature subsequently grants Boston authority to purchase land for such parks. An attempt to create a Metropolitan Park Commission is rejected by Boston voters, but subsequently established in 1893.*
