Clarendon Street Baptist Church holds its first service

Architect: S.J.F. Thayer. The church is located at 2 Clarendon Street. Adoniram Gordon is the first pastor and serves until 1895, leading one of the most energetic missionary congregations of its time. The building’s steeple is removed in 1961 and it is almost completely destroyed by fire on July 21, 1982. It is rebuilt and converted to condominiums in 1988.*
