Gallivan (James A.) is born in Boston.

James Gallivan graduates from Boston Latin School and Harvard College, works as a newspaperman, and is elected to the Massachusetts Senate in 1896. He is elected to Congress in 1914,* is reelected five times, and dies while in office in Arlington on April 3, 1928. Gallivan is buried in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
